Immortals... I'm sure you've all heard of them at least once... Many, if not all, assume that they do not exist, but I have proof they do... In fact, this story is about one of them. Try to deny their existence if you will, I suppose it's your own opinion, but they exist, whether you like it or not. So now, we shall look in on the life of Xela Otoku, a girl who has lived for several hundred liftimes of men, and has seen all the mistakes mankind has made. While we are keeping track of her life, we may also run across a boy named Xavier Otoku, brother to this young woman. So sit tight... You'll have to wait a while for the first chapter, probably a day or two, but either way, you'll learn about Xela, and a little bit about Xavier.

Chapter One -- A Night to Remember

"Xela..." a voice whispered. It was rough and ragged, masculine as well. "Xela, wake up!" The owner of the voice looked to be about 15. He had slightly spiky black hair, though the front three locks were blood red. Eyes were barely visible beneath the red locks of hair, but what could be seen was dark grey. His clothes were basically rags, as though he were a slave of sorts, and he was. So was the girl he was shaking awake.

She was a girl of 13 years, and her hair was as black as a moonless night. The front lock of her hair was blood red, the same color as adorned her brother's hair.

"Go away, Xavier..." the girl, Xela, moaned. "It's far too early..."

"It's never too early for an escape," Xavier replied, his voice hushed still. "Wake up!"

"You mean we're leaving this wretched place?" Xela asked, her eyes snapping open suddenly. They were pitch black, and the one on the right seemed odd somehow, as though she were blind in that eye. "Really?"

"Yes," came the reply. "But be quiet. Come, come... We must retrieve the Pokemon that are locked away. If we save them, then they will help us." He silently stood up and helped his sister off of the blanket she slept on. Normally slaves would sleep on the stone floor of their cell, but Xavier was too caring and protective to let his sister sleep on a cold floor. Instead, he slept on the cold floor without a blanket, though Xela sometimes gave up hers to keep him warm.

Grasping his sister by the hand, he silently grabbed a key from off of the wall. He had stolen the key earlier that day, and it would open any door. Silently, he unlocked the door of their room and pushed it open, then creeped out, still holding the key. Xela creeped out of the room after her older brother and glanced around the hall they had stepped into. It seemed that all of the gaurds had fallen asleep, so it was fairly easy to sneak past them.

After a few minutes of walking, they came to large steel door. It would be hard to open it without waking the gaurd, but Xela quickly came up with a way to keep him out of their hair. She glanced at the wall beside the gaurd and took down the spear, which was their in case of slaves escaping, as they were, or the Pokemon he was gaurding escaping. Silently, she broke off the spear head and set it on the floor, then held the rest of the spear like a staff, which it now was... And a metal one at that...

Xavier silently slid the key into the lock and turned it then pulled it back out. Carefully and slowly, he pulled the door open, but could not avoid the hinges squeaking. The gaurd snorted and moved his head, then returned to peaceful snoring. The boy returned to carefully opening the door, and just as he thought they were safe, the hinges squeaked again. Louder. The gaurd shifted and opened his eyes, finding himself staring at an angry girl weilding a metal staff. He reached beside him to the wall only to touch stone, and then everything blacked out as he was hit hard on the head by a cold metal staff. Luckily, none of the other gaurds had heard anything.

(( I have to log off now, sadly, so this chapter is unfinished. Feel free to comment on my work. ^^ ))

Continuation of Chapter One

Xavier carefully stepped into the dungeon he had unlocked, though he still held the key. He would not let it go, for fear of somebody closing the door somehow. Xela trailed after him, keeping a tight grip on her new staff, as though she feared attack. Several loud growls began sounding from the back of the dungeon, which stunk, and was poorly lit.

"It's alright," Xavier said softly, glancing around. "We're friends... We won't hurt you; we're here to help... We know how you feel... Being caged up for so long, and only seeing light when the master wants to use you for something. Please... Be calm..."

Xela silently closed her eyes and stepped carefully off to the side, then smashed something metallic with her staff. A lock fell to the floor, barely discernable in the dim light of the dungeon. An iron door swung open slowly, and a regal Entei stepped out. He growled a soft thanks to the girl, who patted him on the head, then started off to find another lock to smash off. Soon she had released a Suicune, as well as a Raikou. The three Pokemon stood in the darkness, waiting for Xela to finish releasing the other Pokemon.

In all, the Pokemon counted up to around 30. Some were merely rare, while others were legendary. The list was as follows: Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Salamence, Absol, a baby Lugia, Mew, Celebi, a Togepi and a Togekiss, as well as a Dusclops. As soon as the Mew, Celebi, Lugia, Togepi, and Togekiss were free, all five teleported away. Something had been keeping them from teleporting while they were in the dungeon, and a few of them had jobs they had been assigned.

Xela double-checked by feeling along the walls to confirm that there were no other Pokemon locked up, then ran out of the dungeon, holding her staff in front of her. She was ready to smack people on the head with it if the need arose. Getting to the front gate was easy, as all of the gaurds were still asleep, including the one that had been knocked out. In fact, the only evidence that it wasn't just a bad dream was that Xavier and Xela were gone, his spear was gone, and all of the Pokemon who had been trapped were gone.

It may have been easy to get to the front gate, but getting through was another story. The gaurds here slept all day, so it wasn't as though they could sleep on the job. The Pokemon split into two groups, and waited on either side of the gate, while Entei stood in front of it. Xela and Xavier each joined one of the groups, and awaited whatever would come.

For a while, all was silent, until Entei let out a fierce roar, then attacked the front gate, blasting a giant hole in it. As Pokemon filed through, gaurds who had heard the attack and roar came running, only to be cast down by Xela, Xavier, or one of the Pokemon who hadn't gotten through yet. Once all of the Pokemon had gotten through, the siblings rushed through the gate.

***

The odd group had been running for several hours. It seemed as though they were safe... For now. Xela paused and glanced back towards where they had come from. The castle they had escaped from stood in the distance, a menace to the world she knew and loved. This was in the late mideival time period, and Xela and Xavier where only on their first lives. They hadn't been alive for long, even by an Immortal's standards, and neither of them could possibly know how they would influence the world in the future. Things were going to get worse before they got better, and it would take several long centuries before the world was done worsening, and there were only a few other gaurdians of the world left to make sure things got better, as they were supposed to.
